Meet your provider.
Hi, I’m Joseph Tris, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 14 years of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges.

Evidence-based care for the whole person.
I assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions using psychiatric medications and brief therapeutic interventions. I primarily see patients via telemedicine, with some in-person office availability throughout the year.
I provide evidence-based psychiatric care for Arizona adults seeking treatment for a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, OCD, eating disorders, and skin-picking/hair-pulling disorders. I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification from Postpartum Support International, qualifying me to treat expecting mothers and those in the postpartum period.
I’m originally from the Midwest, but Flagstaff, AZ has been home since 2006. When I’m not helping others become their best selves, I spend my free time rock climbing, mountain biking, and canyoneering throughout Arizona.
Where I trained.
Graduate training in psychiatric mental health nursing, built on nursing degrees earned here in Flagstaff.

Adults 18 and older, across Arizona.
“You are more than your symptoms or diagnoses.”
Whole-person care
Flagstaff Psychiatric Care serves adults ages 18 and older across Arizona, with care delivered primarily through telemedicine and limited in-person office visits throughout the year. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, a mood disorder, OCD, an eating disorder, or a body-focused repetitive behavior like skin picking or hair pulling, this practice is built around treating the whole person — not just a diagnosis.
Perinatal mental health
I have particular experience and certification in perinatal mental health, supporting expecting mothers and those navigating the postpartum period through this uniquely vulnerable stage of life.
A collaborative partner
This practice is well suited for adults who want a collaborative partner in their care — someone who takes time to understand your full life story, not just your symptom list, and who will be honest with you about whether medication is the right tool for what you’re facing.
When another level of care fits better
Because of the level of individualized care this practice is designed to provide, some patients are better served by a higher level of care elsewhere — including those with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) designation, those prescribed Suboxone, or those managing care through a long-acting injectable (LAI). If that’s you, please see the FAQ page for specific referral recommendations.
